Junk Lumber Saw Till (pics)

I was given a pile of junk lumber from a friend and this is what I made out of it after I pulled all the nails and staples, etc..... The tongue and groove is perfect for holding the saws upright. The tip of the blade fits very nicely in the grooves between the pieces. The wood is pine and the finish is BLO.

Very nice John, I like pine, although a lot of folks complain about it. Nice looking till, I can use one myself. My current till exists of priority mail boxes, I can fit about a dozen in each till.;-)

It does look great and give me inspiration to do something with the pile of handsaws in the corner of my shop. I may have to borrow some of your ideas and use the scrap wood (plywood and other) to fashion something similar. I liked the small section and hanging coping saws on the outside also.

I'm laughing John, not at your saw till which is quite nice, but at the thought you got the idea from me. Well you did..... sorta. I got the idea from the archives at the Old Tools list and Jon Gunterman has it on his website at www.shavings.net (http://www.shavings.net) The design is now probably 10 years old and was one of the Galoot joint design projects. In fact it was Jon who turned me away from the noisy side of woodworking and led me onto the true path of the quiet side. Sadly, his job situation and economics forced him to vacate the paradise of NH and move to the Memphis area about 3 years ago.
