Anybody run the 48” sanding belts from HF? Do you have problems?

That's the last place I would buy abrasives, but I have no direct experience with the 4' belts.

The random name belts that I've been using from Amazon have been fine, and the HF ones look OK in the store.
Not a big downside to trying them out.

I’m just curious if anyone has noticed them being tight on the machine compared to others.

The belts from HF are fine.

I just checked out the HF 6x48 "Warrior" belts on their site. $3.49 ????? Really? That's like 1/4 what I pay at Woodwerks. $3 a piece in the 5 pack. Well, that will be a cheap experiment.

Always a good product when the price is 75% less than another retailer.

Only issue is their consumables aren’t 75% less than the name brands.

Also, will y’all explain the math whereby $3.49 is actually less than $3 ?

I’ve had to reset the sander from its normal position. If I pull the bar all the way, it slows the sander.. I’ll take a picture and show this

I assume your question is directed at me but I don't understand it. Don't think I implied that in any way.

Their flat sheet sandpaper is garbage. A few strokes by hand with light pressure and the grit is being lost. The glue is no good at all. Max of one minute or less by hand before replacing. A power sander I would guess one second or less of sanding time.

yes, your statement says (or how I read it anyway) that you can get a belt at HF for $3.49 and at Woodwerks you pay 1/4 that - $3 a piece in the 5 pack.

I read Bryan's statement as that he sees single belts for $3.49 or packs of 5 for $15 at HF. He also stated that they are 1/4 of the Woodwerks price which I therefore imagine to be around $12 a belt, based on his post.

Ah, I see it now. I intended as Zachary states, but I see how the $3 in a 5 pack comment was a little misleading given the order of the statements. Stream of consciousness writing. Just dashed that one out there. Sorry for the confusion.

My interest was peaked at such a low price point on the HF belts so I picked up a 5-pack this morning. Regarding the OP's original concern, the HF belt is not tight on the drums (Jet JSG-96) compared to the Woodwerks belts, but are tighter than the Amazon belts, which I thought were a bit loose and would sometimes move when I sanded side-to-side.

One thing I noticed - The 6" HF belts measure out at 5 7/8". All other 6" belts I've ever bought were a full 6" in width. Also, the seam tape seems a bit lighter weight than the Amazon belts, so we'll see how they hold up.

Mine run too tight. It had a wore out Klingspor on it when I got it, but threw it away when I got the machine.

got a Harbor Freight on mine, don't remember any issues putting it on, doesn't get used very much, no complaints when I do use it.

I have one that I've been using a while for light hobbiest use on my old Delta 6x48 sander. HF is the only local place that sells that size of belt, so I decided to give it a try. So far so good. It works fine and hasn't broken or anything. There is a noticeable thump every time the seam comes around. I'm sure they aren't as good as a name-brand belt, but they've worked well enough for me.

I’m trying to decide on belts from Amazon or just hit EBay. I can’t buy Klingspor direct anymore, so I’m lost.. I run into the same problem buying 4x24 and 6x80 sanding belts..
