I beleive this is shedua. The lid with finial I know is ebony. Wanted something different for the finial so I tried an upside down acorn. It has no finish applied, just Beall buffed. As always your critiques are welcome. Thanks for looking.

It is 1-3/8" dia. x 2-3'4" to the top of the finial.

Nice work on the final. That ebony gets to be unpredictable when the turning gets very small, tends to have hidden cracks and all at once just blows.

No mines this week, been working on the (IT). Glue up and turnings completed. Had some great weather to get out in the big shop. Finishing up on the finishing this weekend, awaiting parts in the mail, and then back to the store for more parts.

I sure like it, and thanks for telling us the size of it cause I was wondering how big of a piece of ebony went into making the lid.
