Hi,

Can you use lock miters to make 5 sides of a cube? In other words can you "fold" the miters onto each other or do they need to slide together?

Thanks much and cheers,

Looks like I make the top of my cube such that the top can slide into the other lock miters:

yes you can
back in 1984 when I didn't have a shaper or a lock miter cutter. I build a tv/stereo stand approx. 4' square, still have it in the bedroom. Lock miters were cut with the table saw and my radial arm saw. Still have the radial arm saw.
Later I got a shaper kit from AMT and a 3/4 bore locking miter cutter, used this to cut locking miters, had to add a top bracket with a ball bearing to hold spindle from deflecting.
Where I worked at bought a Powermatic shaper with a 3/4 spindle, and I made some display cabinets one was 2'x4'x 1'deep.
Need to play with it again been over 20 years since I cut one and now have the proper size shaper to make them safely.
make it so the sides go together and then the back slides in.
