This is a small "Global" Hollowform. English Walnut, Chinese Elm, and some American Apple. (1 piece, two views). Started out with a square piece of English Walnut, glued up a segmented ring with Chinese Elm and Apple. Cut the Walnut on a diagonal the cut the ring on a diagonal and glued in the segmented ring and then turned it. Hollowed with a 1/2" round scraper, not very thin. Then added a square collar.

Cool, Kurt. That slipped ring technique is really cool. You did a fine job. This method of doing a hollow form sure opens up a lot of possibilitie. Nicely done!:D

Cool! Wild!

So tell me. Was the glue up schemed in adavance, or was it like I'd probably do - invade scrap bin and glue togeter whatever fits together?

It was an idea I saw a while back with the segmented ring glued on an angle in a bowl. I used some scraps of Chinese elm sapwood and it looked too plain so I cut out a couple places and stuck in some apple to break it up. So I guess it was a scrap bin project.

Thanks for all the nice comments.

Very unique Curt, one thing for sure about scrap bin projects, they always remain a one of a kind.

Amazing. If that's what you do with scraps, I can't wait to see the results from your "good stash"!! Incredible.
