Finally tried my first bowl. Small piece of poplar rotten firewood. I will choose better wood next time. Learning the hard way. It was still fun to get a feel for what it takes to turn a bowl. First time using a bowl gouge and scraper. The cup is a small piece of persimmon which was the cut off on a previous vase. Still holding my John Hart gift blanks til I get better at this.

Great start Chris, it is good to use old wood before you start on the good stuff.:)

Great start Chris. Great way to practice on wood not so good than to ruin a awesome piece.

Lookin' Good Chris! Yup...I've turned a bunch of really crummy wood. Still turns out pretty though. I think that's what got me hooked.;)
