Nice work Tony, now you have some bragging rights.

I got a nice one from an eight foot board (96") and took it to work and hung it up by my workbench. It was rather thin, a coworker mentioned how thin it was and gloated that his power planer could take a sixteenth in a single pass. The only problem was his blades were worn and he needed to find someone to sharpen them for him.

Thanks guys. Probably could have gone thicker on my shaving to get it leveled quicker but being puny I didn’t want to push too hard.

Thinking of you today, as I made some shavings from ~7' 2x boards (exterior window sills). Gave one to the client.

I got to make a few shavings this summer. They are pine so they do not really count. It was fun at first but turned into a reminder that "lubed for life" does not apply to elbow grease. Plane shavings are my favorite material for starting a fire.

Read some where that it takes about 5 years to really learn to use a hand plane. I don't think I have attempted taking a shaving over about 3 feet long yet. For me, the most difficult part is to get the board flat enough to be able to take a shaving that long in the first place. Good work! I have 3 or 4 years to go yet....
