I built a container for my now-sold, jig and someone wanted me to post some details on the container. I built the container because the jig is somewhat delicate and difficult to store safely. The box is mainly 1/4" ply with a 1/2" bottom and box jointed corners. All the joints are reinforced on the inside. This container is not meant to be abused, but just to keep things from damaging the jig. The jig with base is laid down on it's backside and is held in place with stops built into the lid. Hope this helps...

Thanks, nice work well thought out
Mine stays bolted to a bench unless the pieces are too long then risers are bolt to bench and it bolts to the risers
If it was in storage or needed to travel your box would be the ticket

Derek, thanks for sharing the details. I really like the "sewing machine" style case. Clever solution.

Sweet, much nicer than the one I made a number of years ago for the D4 I have. If you design it right, you can put wheels on one end and store it vertically to take up less space.
Another candidate if you have one: Vega Duplicator.

Thanks for sharing, Derek. Very nice work.

I have been meaning to make something like that for a long while now. Here are links to a different version that some might be interested in. The first is an overview of some features of the storage box. The next three are parts 2-4 of the build. Part 1 seems to not exist, but I think there is more than enough information in parts 2-4 to recreate the box. Unfortunately, he does not offer plans.

Paul, matter of fact, I store it on its end on a HF small dolly that is perfectly sized for it. I considered attached wheels, however that would have meant more substantial structure on that end therefore more weight. I tried to keep the case weight down as much as possible.

Nice box, Derek.

My Leigh Jig just has too many parts for a single wooden box with three different templates, dedicated router bits, and shop made jigs and auxiliary clamping jigs, so I went the other direction. A single box would be too big and too heavy.

I used cardboard boxes which I fabricated myself with hot melt glue. Jig in one box. Templates in another. And a third for accessories, router bits, jigs and the like.
