Hein Stolle Lounge Chair - how is it assembled?

Does anybody have any ideas how the back of this lounge chair is attached to the sides? It looks like a rather large threaded insert perhaps? I have a client asking for a pair of them and im not sure how to tackle it.

From the pic, it looks like it may have a rod going from one side to the other.

Does this chair pivot a bit on that attachment point?

I agree with Rick, you can see the end of the fastener in the second picture toward the rear of the arm-rest stretcher. There is going to be a wood frame that the upholstery is fastened to and while it could just be a fastener on each side into the outer frame, I suspect it's a rod all the way through to better handle the stress load. I'd certainly build it that way even if the original was just a couple of bolts/screws. Treaded rod with appropriately finished cap screws would do the nice.
