Most of my work is relatively small and an outfield roller is adequate for longer pieces. This small 'fence mounted' outfeed table helps more than it might appear to. The angled support provided by the fence was especially awkward. The weight of the stock tended to tilt it into the blade.

Interesting solution for outfeed support, I've seen similar designs for infeed support, first time for outfeed. Not sure I understand the second half of your post. I also mainly make small things. I had a hinged outfeed table on my old saw and when it was up there wasn't much free floorspace to walk around. With my new saw, I adjusted the height of my assembly table and use it as my outfeed support. I might try your idea and see how it works for me.
