SO I bought some solid brass butt hinges from Brusso. They come with brass screws but they do not state the size. But in each packet, there is one steel screw. Is the purpose of that to set the brass screws in easier? i.e. drill and screw in the steel screw, remove it and run in the brass screw. So afraid of stripping the brass Philips head.

UPDATE I figured it out, that is what the steel screw is for, so no need for answers. I would jus to delete but I don't see that option.

Don't forget a little wax on the threads.

I also rub a little wax on screws going into wood to lubricate. Never soap. Soy wax is softer and greaser and rubs on easier.

Yeah, you want a corded drill to really get 'em in there tight.
