I'm about to finish my mobile cart for my Delta 22-580 planer.
How necessary is it to bolt it to the top vs just leave it on the top.
+/- 95LB makes me a just a little nervous.....
Thanks.

Is there a down side to bolting it down? That planer is heavy enough that getting it out of say a cabinet to use then putting it back would get old in short order. I would bolt it down, I'd expect it to move a little when feeding heavier stock into it.

Thanks Curt. I've changed my mind and will go ahead and bolt it down.

+1
With a long board running through it there is enough leverage to cause some sliding/twisting, which you definitely do not want.

+1 on bolting or clamping
There can be enough vibration that it can walk around, and or course, it walks toward the edge.

Thanks Carl. Thanks Edward. Bolting it down will be the final step of this project.
