Hey y'all, a Grizzly 17" bandsaw (G0513 35th anniversary edition) popped up near me, but the poster is asking $1500. Given the 40th edition new is selling for $1450, I know I need to talk him down. Are there any users of the G0513 that could weigh in on what an appropriate price is? Looks to be in very good condition with 2 blades and a mobile base already installed.

I have a slightly different GO513, mine has the cast iron wheels and trunions.
You need to talk him down a lot IMO, the anniversary models are nothing more then the base model with a paint job.

A friend just bought one for $800. And now that he's used it, he's not impressed. Aluminum wheels, stamped steel trunnions, poor blade guides. I have no experience with the saw; only posting what I was told.

I have a G0514XF I bought used for $900 a few years ago.

For the smaller, less capable G0513, $800 would be a smok'in deal, $1000 is a great deal $1500 is an ok deal.

Note that the G0513 40th edition is actually ~$1,869 delivered to your door ($1450 + $250 freight + $34 lift gate service + $136 tax @7.8%) unless you are close to a Grizzly warehouse and can pick it up.

For me, 50% off new for a used machine 10 years old or less in good condition is a great deal. 30% is a fair deal.

To me the freight and the tax doesn't count into the 50% of new formula. You buy new and the delivery and tax was to YOUR shop, I have to figure out how to lug it home. Just like a new car you lose $ when you drive it off the lot. But then again the market dictates pricing. Used prices are way down in my area but a 17" late model bandsaw will have interest.

Stuff like this, that's heavy, large (so hard to ship), and has a limited number of buyers and sellers is going to vary wildly in price depending on where you live.

But at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter what someone else is willing to pay for it, or even what the buyer is asking. All that matters is what YOU are willing to pay for it. If this is the kind of thing you've been looking for a long time, it might be worth getting in contact with them and seeing if they're willing to lower their price. If it's just a spur of the moment thing, I'd be happy to wait, as that price doesn't do much for me. And it's high enough that I wouldn't think they'd be willing to come down to a price that I'd be more comfortable paying.
