hi all. I am in the philippines. I currently have a 50 watt Universal VL 300 machine and am in need of another one. Currently we are being offered a Laserpro Mercury 25 watts for $18,269.00

My Universal dealer is also offering a second hand Universal VL300 30 watts for $16,923. And also offering a BRAND NEW Universal VL200 30 watts (25 watts upgraded to 30 watts due to special promo offer) for $15,000.00

It seems the ULS VL200 is a good buy. however, I need to know what the difference is between a VL200 and a VL300. Why are they offering the second hand for a much higher value than the brand new? I understand its an older model but I would want to know if any one knows what the difference is between the two models from ULS.

The Laserpro mercury is lower in wattage but it offers a bigger work area (18" x 30") I think, front and back doors open for long materials and cutting table and air assist are free.

I am, however, very satisfied with my current universal dealer with their aftermarket sales which has been on time and prompt.

I understand its an older model but I would want to know if any one knows what the difference is between the two models from ULS.The VL200 has a 12x16 bed, the VL300 has a 12x24, otherwise identical, both are current models. I don't know if it matters to you, but the VL200 can't be upgraded beyond 30W: I think the 40/50W tubes may be too long to fit the narrower chassis.

The prices sound high though: a new VL300/30W is $13K, a new VL200/30W is $11K.
(Those are the state-side list prices from their website: http://www.versalaser.com/english/laser_systems/laser_systems.html)
(FYI, VL300/50W lists for $17K: prices ramp up quickly with power.)

Harry,

Lee is correct! The only difference between the VL300 and the VL200 is the size of the engraving / cutting area. As well as the fact it can only fit up to a 30 watt laser tube.

The promo running right now is a NEW VL200-30 watt for 9,995.00. I would ask the dealer about that. That price will be good through 3-15-06.

I would also inquire about the special they are offering on the V460 That would compare to the laser pro in size but costs less with current promos.

Please note that the promos for the platform systems may only be available in the US.

As for the Versas it should be anywhere.

I find it interesting that ULS will sell direct and ship anywhere in the world. That would upset me if I was a rep.

thanx for all the input guys. the high prices are due to taxes here in the philippines. Ordering directly from ULS is a possibility but it would still be subject to the same taxes in customs.

I didn't order directly from ULS when I bought my VL200 - the rep was cheaper by $2,000.00!
