Anyone use done for shaper fences etc? Like Elesa and TEJAX. Kind. of similar to traV A DIAL.

My King jointer/planer came equipped with one for planer thickness. It works OK, but I don't use it as I added an electronic DRO. Advantage of the DRO? No issue with backlash since it reads the actual table position as opposed to counting turns of a shaft that moves the table through gears and such. Not a huge issue in woodworking usually, but still..... Also, I can easily switch between metric, fractional inches, and decimal inches, which is handy sometimes.

I had too much experience with the Elesa products. We had them on the case packer at work. A good operator could do a better change over with a tape measure. I think DRO would be more precise. Like Paul stated, it shows actual position in whatever measuring system you choose. And you never have to guess how much of a partial revolution you need or have used.
