Just in case anyone was wondering what such a shop MIGHT look like...
Watch your head on the way down the steps to the shop,BTW....and this is the sight that greets you on the last step
506470
Item laying on the mitre box & saw...is my shop apron..8" Craftsman Tablesaw used to be my Dad's.
Turn a bit to the left..
506471
Langdon 75 Mitre Box & Saw...Turn a bit more..
506472
This is the shop's main bandsaw ( I do have a "spare"...)
506473
Cob webs should give an idea when the last time it was used? There is also a Router Table sitting back there..

IF you turn a bit further to the left...
506474
This is the main aisle...both for the shop and for the "Laundry Room"
To your left, hanging down are the longer clamps..not the pipe clamps, though..
506475
12" and up...just to the right of these..
506476
6" clamps, and a Jorgenson Mitre Box...that needs a new blade...no rush..

Below the clamps
506477
Set of cheap shelves...the only shelf that didn't bow was the bottom one. Mainly for items I might use once a month or so...
Picture limit reached...stay tuned

That Bottom shelf?
506478
13" Tilting table Scroll saw...below the 1" wide sander...
Drill Press?
506479
And the stand I built for it...5 speed, about all I need it for...
506480
Top box holds the Branding iron...more cheap shelves further down..
506481
Breaker Panel in the background...wood box contains a few spokeshaves...
506482
Almost time for a new shop stool? Just getting "broke in"?
506483
C clamps and handled files/rasps...Old dresser was in the basement when we moved in...only the top drawer was left...makes a nice place to hang all the c clamps I use..
506484
As they are always within reach of my workbench...Been a LOT of work done here...planes on the shelf are the ready-to-use planes...

506485
One of the reasons I hate open tils....Dust Magnet. Longer 2 are Stanley No. 31s

Stay tuned...

Solution to dusty tools in a til? Well for the bigger ones...
506486
Size #8 down...there is a 22" long woodie up on top...not used very much...close the doors, to keep the dust out.

Rest of the toys...er...tools?
506487
Well, IF you need a tool, you can either open up one door..or
506488
Open both doors up...otherwise, the doors stay closed keeps the dust out..
506490
Besides...I will need them saws first, anyway...

That was the $0.05 Tour...everything I need is within 3 steps at the most....as 95% on the work I do is sitting on that shop stool at the end vise...somedays....other days I might be working at either the Tablesaw or the Bandsaw...

The 5 drawer chest of drawers? I built that as storage for the shop...most of it's drawers are full, BTW....before then, I was sitting a big pile of stuff on an old clothes dryer....

Any other details you want to see?

Steven,

It always amazes me how much you have stored in your shop, and yet still have room to work.

I still think about storage for my own future shop, and long ago had temporarily rejected the idea of a chest of drawers type of storage cabinet, but lately have thought more about that idea because it seems like a very efficient way to store tools. It can also be used for storage in a spot in my planned shop that no other type of storage seems very feasible.

At any rate, thanks for the tour, tours of your shop and of the shops of the other folks on this site always helps me help plan my own, or at least dream about such. I have also visited the shops of folks I know here. I always appreciate the ideas that these tours give me.

Thanks and regards,

Stew

Hopefully you'll have more space in your shop than I do...
