Hi folks, I just took over a beautiful old (1950's? 40's?) Jonsereds 59413 bandsaw. I can't find any information about it. I'm new to bandsaws and have watched everything I can on safety and use on YouTube but if love to learn whatever I can about this model just for fun but possibly also for safety reasons.

It has the original fence which I think is also pretty neat.

The first I noticed watching bandsaw videos is that they mention that it is dangerous to let run while the doors to the wheel covers are open. Well, it's safe to say I'm afraid to let it run until I cover the wheels somehow. It has a foot brake beside the lower wheel. I don't want to even turn it on without folding my laces into my boots.

How might you folks go about covering the wheels? I see that a previous owner has drilled and tapped two holes near the wheels.

At any rate, here are some pictures: https://imgur.com/a/9r6bg87

I think it's beautiful and I'd love to restore and paint it to it's former glory!

Very cool! For some reason your link doesn't work, try posting a couple pictures here.

Have you been over to www.owwm.org? They would be interested to see it and perhaps have some info.

Nice Find! I see it has the Panhans APA guides! Those are still available if you need parts.

I'll check out the wheel diameter when I'm back on the farm on Tuesday, but now if say they're big!

That's good to know about the guides! One of them is a bit chewed up.

Hi Bill, a very late reply but the wheels are 70 cm. I learned from the curator of a Jonsereds museum in Sweden that this saw was delivered on November 20th, 1949.
Here's a photo from the catalog! https://imgur.com/i0ABJzZhttps://i.imgur.com/i0ABJzZ.jpg

Looks a good saw if it's anything like this model, should it help find more out about those machines, perhaps something maybe in the comments
on the video, or the other one where you can see it working, which I can't find.

All the best
