I do not own a fiber laser, but I have been using Cermark for years.

In your opinion......for use with stainless steel in a clean room, what would be better.....marking a part with a fiber laser or using cermark? I remember Ferro used to tout that Cermark was used by NASA and for marking medical equipment. I can't remember if it is food safe.

I think that my CO2 laser is getting more and more obsolete, so I'm just wondering what applications are left that make it stand out.

All depend upon how it's being cleaned and how large an item it is. There are restrictions with a fiber laser and size.
And I've had cermark fail on testing in a chicken processing plant. They use some very caustic chemicals almost contantly. Etched the cermark right off in fairly short period of time.
