I was in your position on the Hilti 267 just this morning. After reading this thread from last July:

http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=21716&highlight=hilti+circular

and talking with Dino, too, this morning, I've decided that the much more affordable Porter-Cable 325Mag is the saw for me.

But heck, if you can get it at the same price  I thought they were around 300 smackers...? Can you share your "deal" information? ;)

Jack, As fare as Can I share my "deal" information? /Sure I can .I taked to my local hilti dealer on the phone and he quoted me a price of $149.00 plus 6% tax(mi.) but looking at the web site and the thread from july and I am questioning the price and if its the right model he quoted me on the phone. The dealer in my area is going to send me a spec. sheet on it, in the mail, at that point I can find out if it is the right saw or the cheaper model. when I talked to him he had the rep on his two way as I asked questions, but now I am not sure . I also was on the same page as you as far as $300.00(H) comepared to $150.00(PC.) when I find out if it is the right saw I will post you a answer.(one way or the other, not sure if you can wait that long ?) I should get somthing I mail by the end of the week and I will let you know. Thanks

No problem. My EZ stuff is just barely on a UPS truck 3000 miles east of here, so it will be at least a week before I'll be getting very anxious. In the meantime, I'll call my local Hilti dealer in Sacramento and see if he'll quote a price for the 267 over the phone. I'll share that if successful.

Richard,

BTW, I did a Google search on hilti circular saw and found this:

Hmmmmm, kinda makes me think your Hilti guy got mixed up a bit ;)

I've talked to two different Hilti reps. The 265 is $300. Just went to the Hilti site to verify model number. They've added 4 new saws to the mix since I was there last week (used to be only 2 models). They have added a 55 mm depth saw, keyless blade changing options, along with a 85 mm depth saw. So now I don't know what saw we're talking about. The 255/265 looks like a sweet saw, though.

Rick,

What web address are you looking at. The one I've been watching, which I thought was Hilti's official US site, only lists two saws: the WSC 167 and the WSC 267-E.

I just called Hilti and was told that the page with six saws on it (the saw models xx5) are models sold overseas, not here in the states. The saws for sale here are the saws with model numbers xx7, and only two saws are available.

I've got a Hilti guy in my local HD and I'm going to ask him today what he would sell it for.

Ok, that makes sense, because I remembered the model number ending with a 7. The 267 was $300.

I talked to the Hilti guy and he made a call to his "people" and they confirmed a $299 Price tag on the 267. He said that the saw is really marketed though to be sold as a "kit", the saw plus a "rip package" or with a "finishing package". I'll try to upload a pic of the pages they emailed me. One is a quote for the two saws and for the 267 kits. Here goes:

I taked to the local dealer to day he said that he is ordering in a e-267 and a 167 for me to look at ,he also said that the 267 had a brake and 6 speeds on it and I asked him the price on the 267 and he told me it was $149.00. I think he is making a mistake on the price but when it comes in I will go look at it and go from there, but I do think you guys are right on the price two many $300.00 quotes out there.there can't be that big of a price diferance. (also jack the saw on the home depot web site is the 167 not the 267) I will keep everybody informed on the out come!

Oh geeze, another bad pun--sorry.

But I did go see the Hilti 267 at their Sacramento store. Well, it's a very well made tool, but first thing I noticed was the odd angle of the handle that could cause unnecessary strain on your wrist--just like Dino said. But boy is it nicely made. Six speeds, and all settings are easy to adjust. That safety feature, where if you neglect to unplug the saw before changing the blade, the saw disconnects the power automatically when you perform that task, is way cool. Has a nice dust port that can easily be attached to a vac. That part, which is basically the top portion of the blade shield, can be removed for easier cleaning too. The price they quoted me in the store was $279.

I'll be interested in your impressions of the beast, Richard. I think I'll end up with the PC 325Mag, though. Since I only dabble in this stuff, I can't really justify that much moolah for a circular saw. And who knows, maybe in a year or two Dino will have a kickass saw perfectly mated to his EZ system.

Talked to the dealer to day he said the saw would not be in till the end of next week , (origenaly he said one to two days to get in )this guy seem's to have a new story every day, I am not to confident with him or his price and reliability, at this point I think it is going to be one big goose egg! I might just say forget it and get the pc mag also.Ether way thanks for all the imput so fare.

I ordered a PC 325Mag from Amazon yesterday. I think it will serve my needs quite well.

Best of luck to you, Richard.

Went and looked at the 267-e saw today it is a very nice saw , the handel is in a little differant position but it did not seem to bother me, One thing that did bother me was the sales guy ,he went from $150.00 to over $300.00 in price just like everybody had said (well it was worth the try I guess) if the price is not a big deal for you , it is still a good saw and would work realy good with the ez smart guide I think. well thats the end to the story of the cheap saw. not sure what saw I am going to get for my ez guide. thanks for all the insight

I recently picked up the Hilti WSC 267-E saw and looked at various guide rail options. I too considered purchasing the Hilti saw in a package that includes a guide rail, as listed on this thread. I also considered purchasing the EZ Smart Guide and adapter base plate. What I discovered is that the Festool guide rail and the Hilti saw are interchangeable so I purchased the Festool guide rail. This setup works awesome.

I provide this information for anyone looking for another option to purchasing the Festool system or Hilti 267-E with the EZ Smart Guide. I did not have to change the base of the saw, I simply put the saw on the Festool guide rail and it works.
