I ready to try this now that I have some green wood to turn.

Most of what I turn is 10 inches or less. I'm thinking of pouring a gallon of DNA into a 5 gallon bucket and leavinig it in there for whenever I need to soak another piece of green wood instead of transfering it back into the can it came in after each soaking. Is this ok?

Also. Will the bucket need to be covered tight or loose while the wood is soaking.

Thanks

George

You need to seal the container. The alcohol will evaporate and also absorb moisture from the air. Both of these things are bad. I soak most of my turning in plastic 1 1/2 gallon ice cream containers. I leave the soaking solution in the ice cream container with the lid on.

Good luck.

I always keep it sealed. My alkey bath is 10 gallons and I keep it sealed air tight. Remember this stuff is very VERY flameable----if there are other folks around-----I would paint the bucket RED or lable it or something.
