Well, I said I was going to do a series of the little lidded box I posted in my pen thread. Here's number 4, 5, and what would have been 6 if I hadn't gotten off the bevel on the lid. See, even I make mistakes  So that one became a cup since the grain wouldn't match up if I had cut it from another piece of wood.

The light colored one and the cup are dogwood. The burl is cherry. Both finials are ebony. Finished with danish oil and Mylands friction polish.

Sizes are ~3 1/2" tall from tip to tail and 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" in diameter.

As Lawrence Welk used to say, "Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful." I really like those Raymond and the petite size will almost certainly make them winners with the ladies. Most excellent!:D

Raymond, I really like the shape/form of these boxes. The only thing , in my opinion, is that the finials seem a little fat. Again, thats just my opinion.

EITHER LEAD, FOLLOW, OR GET OUT OF THE WAY.......

Raymond,

Those boxes (er ... box and cup) look great. Do you have an opportunity to turn another lid from a contrasting piece of wood for the cup? That might look pretty good, and as you'll soon learn, some of your "saves" are more interesting than the original. Looks like you have the hang of it alright! Keep up the good work and posting picts!

Wow, those are cool Raymound!! I wouldn't know they were that small. Do these qualify as Itty Bitty or just Bitty!

Corey, I think they just qualify as small. No bitty or itty involved.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll be making more with different shapes and post the pictures.

I like the finish of both the finials and the wood. Very cool. I'm very envious.

Sorry you lost the work. While I don't consider my kaleidoscopes in a class with what you lost, I found it crazy that a person that spent $500.00 for a metal sulpture would steal a $35.00 kaleidoscope, at a small show! No way to figure what people will do!

Oh, I see that these are the ones that were stolen, what a shame. Man I loved that first one!
