The blade that does the slicing is probably a bit of work to sharpen.

By hand with a stone. Maybe an attachable framework as a guide.
It's not like the structure of that machine is going to produce tight-tolerance product.

True, but for quality one wouldn't want nicks making lines across the veneer. The product needs to be fairly uniform.

Absolutely - Agreed - I only meant that it didn't need a 10 foot surface grinder for perfectly straight and polished edge - that is outside the tolerance capability of the machine. What can be achieved with a hand-held stone by an experienced operator will be fine.

I think if is funny that it takes five people to stack the flitches. Two to peel them out and three to stack.
