I have an existing aluminum framed patio cover. It looks kind of like Pan decking for concrete floors. With flat troughs and raised beams between. Problem is there is six inch wide fiberglass? clipped in between every two foot wide sheet. The fiberglass is failing and leaks as it unclips.
I would like to just replace it all but keep the supports. Problem is there are no rafters or purlins. This means each sheet has to span eight feet top to bottom with no mid length support. All the metal I see needs purlins every 4-6 feet.
The bottom has brick in between the corner posts and I do not want to rip that all out and rebuild. the verticals are only 2x2 so must stay metal to be strong enough.

The barn metal I use calls for purlins every 2 feet. The pre fab carports I have installed and worked on all have proprietary steel or aluminum panels. Hybridizing a pre fab carport to conventional construction will be a design challenge. The carports I am familiar with were from Fashion Metals. I see a similar product from Home Depot called Integra. Perhaps Integra pans could be adapted.

That looks very similar to what I have. Thanks for the link.

These carports get their strength from having metal with deep corrugations and benefit from not having much weight of their own to hold up.

I now know it is almost like 7.2 rib roofing which is 7.2" rib spacing. Mine is 6 inch rib spacing with a deeper rib. If I can find 6 rib in fiberglass I can put them over the old leaking ones and sandwhich it from below with some long screws and 6" cross bars.
