Anyone ever use the E.J. Wheaton Co. - Micro-Crystalline Wax Polish in their saw or jointer bed? Same price as Renaissance but 30% more per can.

I've never tried either of those brands. There's usually a can of Miniwax Paste Finishing Wax around my shop and that's what goes on the equipment. Actually just started my spring maintenance yesterday and waxed the Jointer/Planer and the saw. Still need to do the band saw

I started using Felder Silber Gleit instead of paste wax.

It comes in a 1Kg tin, lasts longer and I find it reduces friction even better than wax.

Not to highjack the original thread topic, but what exactly is a "micro-crystalline" paste wax? I've used renaissance for a while and find it to be excellent but is this term a marketing gimmick or is there something advantageous about a crystalline formulation?

Dupont "chain saver lube" describes itself as a spray wax. I have switched to it for lube on sliding bits and gears racks etc in wood dust environments. Sprays on like WD40 then dries up. Never seen it in a store, just online sales.
I think it has teflon but no silicone to mess up finishes.

Felder Silber-Gleit is wax, just a different type than most

SDS shows it's Kerosene, Paraffin waxes and Hydrocarbon waxes

Microcrystalline wax typically means that it has been refined further, the particles are finer, and the melting point is higher.

I use renaissance wax on my tools, I haven't tried the E.J. Wheaton yet. A small can lasts a long time. I might have to give it a try next time.

I started using it about six months ago. So far, I am very happy. I had been using Renaissance Wax before switching.

Thanks, good to know.
The price is so much different, it almost doesn't seem possible.

I just started using Tool Wax from Veritas on some of my reground planes. It seems to harden fairly quickly and seems to do the job. Only the future will tell, but I like it
