The reviews of the guide that dewalt makes are, shall we say, "mixed." Apparently a lot of quality control issues.

Has anyone used another brand with this router? Are any others compatible?

Thanks!

I have the Infinity D-handle base plate with edge guide. I like it.

I sprung for the ready made jig instead of just buying the plans and making it myself.

Make sure you watch the video of all the things you can do with it besides just an edge guide.

So this would be a $195 router with a $300 edge guide. Doesn't seem right...

I should probably also mention this:

If you have a track saw and tracks, it works well.

The Bosch edge guide is pretty darned nice, and i'm seeing it at Amazon for a little over $40 right now BOSCH RA1054 Deluxe Router Edge Guide with Dust Extraction Hood & Vacuum Hose Adapter,Black - Router Templates - Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-Deluxe-Extraction-Adapter-RA1054/dp/B00005RHPP/ref=asc_df_B00005RHPP/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310828259700&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10848715332395633216&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016200&hvtargid=pla-434417410753&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=65583250281&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=310828259700&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10848715332395633216&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016200&hvtargid=pla-434417410753). BUT...uses 10mm diameter rods through the plunge base, spaced about 4" on center. I've read of some folks using sleeves for smaller diameter rods, but i don't see a way to adjust the separation. Lot of bang for the buck if it works.

Side note--When i bought a small router, i was waffling between Bosch Colt and the Dewalt 611, opted for the Colt since i already had the edge guide and mostly like the Bosch guide bushings. But, i've used a few Dewalt 611's since, and i would have preferred that over the Colt. Most of the time i just grab one of the Bosch 1617's even for small work, so it may be time to part with the Colt & trade up.

I had the Microfence for my Porter Cable 2 1/4 horsepower routers and an adapter for a Porter Cable trim router. I took the adapter off the trim router and it works perfectly on the small Dewalt.

You might want to look into the M Power CRB7. It can do far more than just be an edge guide.
