My Jet table saw is about 12 years old. In that time I've probably replaced the off-on switch 2-3 times. Upon inspection I see that the contacts inside the switch are burned away. This tells me that upon turning off it is arcing inside the switch. Of course there is an induced voltage when you turn of a high induction things like a motor but it seems like there should be a capacitor to 'swallow' this on the motor. Yes?

I would compare the amp rating of the switch as compared to the motor full load rating to insure there is no mismatch. What Hp is your Jet saw?
