A co-worker had a mesquite tree blow down in his yard this week. When I heard about it, I was all over him like white on rice! Or like a wood turner that heard about a tree falling down.:D

This is the first raw piece of tree that I've come in contact with since I've started this hobby. The log is about six feet long and about 6-1/2"in diameter at the base.

I have sealed all open cut areas with Woodcrafts green wood sealer until I can figure out how to make the best use of what's there.

George nice haul. I like mesquite also since it is so stable.

Nice haul George. If it blew over, where's the root ball? Get it if you can.

George,
I'm gonna be in the area this week and I would be glad to get that straw log out of your way....:D

Well...if you had to pick a "first time" for "bowls in the rough", you certainly can't beat mesquite...incredibly stable stuff wet or dry or anywhere in- between. Good haul!
