Nova Galaxi lathe problem

I have a Nova Galaxi lathe that I bought new when they first came out. It has been a great machine but recently has developed an intermittent knocking in the headstock that I can’t figure out. Its not a bearing problem or bent spindle and it goes away as soon as the power is turned off and it still runs fine. I wondering if any other Galaxi owners have experienced this or if anyone has had the headstock apart and how difficult it is to get it apart.
