I was looking at Wood magazines Article on 8" jointers. There Top tool was the Powermatic 60B (stock# 1610077k) @$1200.00. But after looking at the Powermatic web site. The unit that they tested and deem the best looks more like there PJ882 (stock #1610080) parallelogram jointer @ appox. @1600.00. The only difference is the one in the pic has the power switch up on a pedestal. What gives?

The picture in the mag and the one on the web site are two totally different machines at least in appearance.
Good eye Russ.

Yep, they blew that one. I believe the even tested the more expensive machine. I saw a quote posted by one of the editors somewhere where he admitted the mistake.

According to a Wood Mag person on another site, they will clear up their mistake in the next issue. They pictured and tested the $1600 jointer and not the 60B they said it was. Will be interesting to see them explain what happined.

Wood forum had this to say from a staff member.

"The error in the model number and price of the Powermatic jointer we tested is inexcusable, and we regret it. A correction will run in the next issue.

In fact, we did test the PJ-882 jointer with a street price of around $1,650. All of the test results in the article and chart information pertain to that model."

I'll bet that there were a lot of disappointed people thinking they were going to get a PM jointer for $1200. I thought that it looked too good to be true.
