I'm not a turner, but this is worth a look- never seen one like it.

Cheers, Jay

That's actually a very good price, especially with all the goodies. Not guessing at shipping, but new retail has to be pushing the $25k range, maybe a tad more. Out of my league, but a worthy machine.

A few years ago, I visited a turner on the SE side of Baltimore that had a larger lathe with a 48 inch face plate. I have not seen it, but I am told there is a member of my turning club that has a lathe that can handle items to 10 or 12 feet in diameter. and over head cranes just to lift the work up to the spindle. The scale of such a thing is simply beyond anything I would want to do. A few years ago on craigs' list there was a lathe for turning porch columns, up to 14 or 18 ft between centers. (That would be some segmented turning)

Speaking of good price, there is also this: nice up-and-running rig

If you're in Norcal, that may have been right near me. the lathe was so big that it was set in a recess in the concrete floor. I had gotten porch columns in the past, and bought a unit of lumber recently as he was shutting down the business. He said he did find a buyer for the machines, in central Cal.
