This was a splurge- a pair of high-end hand made planes, just over $200 with shipping.

The blades are in good condition, 'tho- little sharpening needed.

Stay tuned for performance testing in a few months, when things acclimate.

Got one sharpened and tuned up for the moment. Good results so far.

Looks good Cameron, guess I've never been bit by the Japanese chisel & plane bug.

Nice! Looks like they’re working well for ya. It’s interesting to see what we individually look for with handmade planes on ebay. I always look for hand scribed maker’s marks vs stamped. Definitely not necessarily a indicator of quality, but I am romantic about the idea of a guy actually at the forge vs more automated techniques.

These are a few of my latest purchases. The teeny tiny one has a 14mm blade and is only 3” or so long with a shallow radius. It has become my go to for a lot of tasks. It’s especially fun to use on spindles and spoon handles.

Thanks.

That's a good looking chair seat!

Did some work on the second one.

The blade needed "tapping out', three rounds, and was markedly concave- still needs some work to straighten the cutting edge, and also bringing to a steeper angle.

The iron & chipbreaker weigh over a pound, more than twice the weight of a typical Stanley.

Straight edge for truing plane soles.

I'd been contemplating buying one of these, but expensive and a little hard to come by. I have a precision straight edge but it's square edge is not ideal.

There's a 15" planer knife that's been knocking around forever- I think I bought it at a yard sale for $1. It's not that straight 'tho but I had the idea to mount it and true the edge.

After cutting a slot in a piece of Ipe and pressed the knife in, it didn't take much truing with a diamond plate and a surface plate with fine paper to get a pretty true edge, referenced off the other straight edge. I think it will work well...
