That one hit hard. He was always one of my favorites. The song 'Cause We've Ended as Lovers from the Blow by Blow album was a masterwork.

He was one of the most amazing guitarists and musicians that ever lived. I was very sad to hear of his passing yesterday.

OMG, same! I walked into a music shop that was playing Blow by Blow and had to have it. I had no idea who Jeff Beck was until then. This was the mid-90s so I naturally annoyed everybody by going on about Beck, and then pretending to be upset when they thought I meant the "Loser" guy. :)

I'm also a fan of You Had it Coming, Emotion and Commotion, and Loud Hailer. He also just released an album last year with Johnny Depp called 18 I haven't heard before. I hope I'm still as productive and on top of my game as he seemed to be. Bit of a divergence, but the Deep Purple guys and Richie Blackmore all seem to still be putting out quality music at about the same age. We should all be so lucky to be able to do what we love so well.

He's brilliant, and Tal Wilkenfield is astonishing.

You Had It Coming is a good album too.
His albums varied quite dramatically which indicates how adventurous a musical artist he was.

Don't forget Live at Ronnie Scott's. Great collaborations on that album. Two that come to mind are Rollin' and Tumbling with Imogene Heap on vocals, and People Get Ready with Joss Stone on vocals.

RIP!
And fusion and "smooth jazz" and...and... lots of influence all around!

His albums varied quite dramatically which indicates how adventurous a musical artist he was.

Read a Sci-fi short story which had a drug that could give you any power you wanted when you took it. The protangonist decides he "Wants to play guitar as good as Jeff Beck", which is granted. He's an amazing guitarist, but in true "monkey paw" fashion he also can't seem to stick to any one thing, getting bored and restless, so he's unable to capitalize on this talent. I have no idea if Jeff was similarly difficult, but I find it interesting he seems to have changed things up on every album. And why not? He likely had reasonable money coming in from his time in the Yardbirds, why do the same thing over and over again if you've got the option to explore your interests.
