In the process of clearing off the Bench..today ( Laundry Detail, again) decided to do a tour through the Main Tool Chest with the camera...

Hope nobody minds....
At the moment, the doors are closed, as usual..
492740
As for that drill hanging on the side of the door?
492741
A Goodell Pratt Co. Breast Drill....not enough room on the inside...Open the right side door, and hold open with the prop..
492742
Little bit of everything...
492743
And..
492744
Just one door's worth of "Stuff"

Back into the right hand corner..
492745
Have all kinds of things just hanging around...Lower right corner?
492746
There is a set of Expansive Bits hanging in there...

Which will bring us to the center section...

The center section....Has the bottom shelf, a middle shelf...and a rack for drills...
492747
need a plane? 2 shelves of planes, there is another shelf above this...
492748
Drill size runs from 6" up to 14" sweeps, plus a few more eggbeaters....
492749
More squares hanging around...
492750
Down in the Left corner...a few block planes at the ready...which brings us to the Left hand door...
492751
Look carefully, you will see 2 more block planes....And, above the rack of tools...
492752
Joinery saws, a square...and a Church Key....no room for the case stuff..so..
492753
They can sit over there in the corner, for now...
492754
And these can stay here, for now....

That be the $0.05 Tour...for now....

IF they fit the job being done, they will get used...some are pre-set up.....

Took a LONG time to get this well set up.....

Reason for the tour....seems I had to clear off the top of my bench..and try to put most of the tools away, for now
492810
Things had piled up a bit, it seems...
492811
Trying to figure out what went where...and what to keep out on the bench...
492812
Even a tray was getting filled up..
492813
Decided on a few things to keep "handy"
492814
Some of the smaller hand tools are now in the Desktop Organizers...
492815
Not sure which square to keep out...
492816
Bench won't stay THIS clean for very long, anyway....

Opened for Business?
492874492875
Even the Plane Til?
492876
Mainly for the larger Jacks, and Jointers....and a few "extras"

Close the doors when not in use...
492877
Ready Service Rack of saws..

I merely have to do an "About FACE" from my bench to the tool chest...and then back again to the bench...

after all that putting the toys away....today I'm digging through the chest to get out the tools for the next project....

Steven,

I really like the cabinets above. You have a lot of tools there, but they are neat and well organized, can be seen easily so that things should be easy to find. Good job on that good practical storage.

I am always on the look out for tools I do not have.....there are a few. I can always move a couple things around inside the Chest...nothing is set in stone. Still looking at a way to move that Breast Drill into the Chest....Goodell Pratt Co. No. 477. Extra tools beyond the basic sets, are stored over in a 5 drawer Chest of Drawers. And, there is a 17pc Hand saw til also in the shop, to hold collector level handsaws...keeps them dust-free, that way.
