I think so. I cut this Hickory limb burl/knot about 1 1/2 yrs ago and threw it in the corner of the shop. Finally decided to tackle it. The outside went OK, but the partially hollow inside was a different story! Even with the 1 1/4" bar on my hollowing rig, it gave me quite a pounding. I sanded the edges of the holes and voids to knock down the sharp edges. Beaten into submission at 14" tall by 7" diameter.

As you found out anything past 6-7" off the toolrest is a whole new world. Good job, any how!

Travis it's really pretty. I think wood turners are the only class of people that can see the beauty in a turned "anything" full of holes.
Feeling a little better now that I'm here

I am surprised to learn that you also beat your wood. I thought I was the only one to beat wood into roundness and submission. Your efforts make mine pale by comparison. Nice work, Travis.:D

Another nice one Travis. I think the neck should have been a little smaller and the big hole should be duplicated on the oppisite side:eek: :D . Seriously, I like the form, colors , holes and finish. It's a keeper for sure:) :)
