A trove of coins found in a cave in Israel in a lathe turned lidded box. Estimated to have been put in the cave some 2200 years ago. The coins are why I was reading the article but my attention really focused on the lathe turned container statement. Scroll down a ways to see the picture of the lidded box with a nicely turned lid complete with a tenon. Gives all of us with our multi thousand dollar lathes and almost countless hundreds in lathe tools something to think about.

Neighbor kid asked me is I had turned it. :(

Wow that is amazing! I hope it gets a place in the museum close to the Dead Sea Scrolls Calendar.
