After a failed venture in to bent lamination for the legs, I'm finally finishing up my midcentury bench using straight legs instead. I've mounted these legs using top plates (similar to https://smile.amazon.com/Anwenk-Leg-Mounting-Attachment-Industrial/dp/B01HTWQFKA) and they work great.

The only issue I have is that the bolt seems tighter in the top plate than in the nut inside the leg. Thus, when I unscrew the leg, the bolt unscrews from the leg and remains with the top. I'd prefer to have the bolt permanently mounted in the leg.

How does one usually fasten the bolt inside the leg?

Since the bolts screw into an insert in the leg, I'd try some loctite on the threads where they engage the insert. That should hold it fine without being too permanent.

[eta:] One potential problem with doing that, however, is that you might have less freedom to both get the leg positioned where you want it (square to the bench) and get the leg tight enough. I would experiment with a scrap to see if that is a problem.
