I can't find a staircase nose piece, so I'm going to take two transition trim pieces and plane down that t groove slot down on the bottom so it's flat then double side tape it to the stairs. Looks like this stuff is just mdf. I know it's tough because I cut some on the miter saw and it really bogged it down.

MDF is very hard of planer blades.

You are going to double-stick tape molding onto your stair treads? That sounds like a terrible idea.

All of the weight of the person on the stairs will be trying to rotate the nose piece right off the tread. Your tape idea is asking for an injury, perhaps serious.

I'm sitting here staring at a picture of Kate Upton in a bikini.
My wife is walking down the hallway with the hounds, headed towards the back door to let them out.
It's 5:36 am on a Sunday morning & it's really cold outside.
So - she clearly won't be in a very good mood - - even worse if she happens to look my way and see what I'm doing.

This still isn't as bad of an idea as using two faced tape to hold the nose piece on a stair tread.

Yeah- tape= bad idea
If you need a nosing, just make one with a router.
One inch tread , use a 1/2" round over bit
3/4" tread, use a 3/8" roundover bit
Cut MDF on the saw, don't use a planer unless you plan to toss the knives after planing 3-4 feet of it

Agree about tape being a bad idea, a bit of humor, a former co-worker called double sided (two faced) tape "Supervisors Tape".
