We got a cnc plasma cutter at the school where I teach about a year ago. Some of you guys may remember the music bench that we made last school year. I posted it here http://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=19691&highlight=music+bench

Anyway I've been working to design my business sign and cut it out yesterday and thought I would share my success. This plasma cam machine is fussy as heck and we were really lucky to get something this big to cut out. I plan to hang the sign on a wooden frame with some type of ornate crown to draw attention to my business from the highway. Plans are to paint metallic silver and then paint the letters hunter green. The plate metal is 1/8" thick and the sign is 48" in diameter.

Looks good, maybe a centered phone number would of given a more balanced look, but none the less, looks good.

I agree but the LLC had to be put on that line and is required by the state. It is difficult to see but I had to leave room for it somewhere.

Looks great, Jim. I wonder how long before someone asks where's the saw it came off.:)

I have considered building a plywood table saw look alike to mount the sign in. I have a slow speed motor to use for just that kind of operation but it would cost too much to run the wire down to the highway.

I considered using an old sawmill blade but I didn't have access to one. Plus it was fun drawing and cutting this one out.

hey Jim,
That is one fierce sign. Should bring in trade (and maybe other ww'ers)
By the way, are you off hy 62? We go to Horshoe bend twice a year whether we need to or not!

Yeah, I'm just about 3 miles off highway 62 which runs right through here. Come on over to see me sometime.

Jim, Cool sign! Have you thought about getting it powdered coated instead of painting it? It might save you time since it will be out in the elements in the years to come.

Jim, that is a sweet sign. I second the vote for powder coating.

Access to a CNC plasma cutter.

Good thing jealousy isn't one of the seven deadly sins. I would be a gonner.

Nice looking sign.

I would love to have it powder coated but I don't know where I can get that done. We have the craftsman toolbox factory here in town and I don't know whether or not they are powder coating toolboxes these days. I need to check it out.

Looks great Jim!

If I were driving by, that sign would certainly get my attention.
