I want to buy a router table, but because of my space limits
I was thinking about a table saw/router table insert.
I have a Ridgid 27 inch contractor saw TS3650. I saw
some nice ones at Rockler, but it looks like everything
to do with routers,or router tables is oversold and not
in stock! Also I kind of wanted one I could attatch to
my open rails on right side of the saw rather than remove
one of the cast iron tops. Any suggestions ?

I have the table saw router table from Woodhaven. I have been very happy with it. I got the large one, it is 27" x 48". My only complain is that I didn't get it sooner. Not always trying to push the router table out of the way now. It's great for a small shop.
Here's a link.

I have the Ridgid TS3650 table saw as well. When I was deciding the same question, I looked at either making one myself or buying one. I decided to buy a rather inexpensive one...a Craftsman. I paid less than $90 (which at the time was another consideration). I put it on the right side and it created a rather nice amount of workspace, when I am not using the undermounted router. I am very happy with it, but I was coming up from a very small portable router table that was pathetic by comparison. The rails support my table very well.

Heres the one I made for my Jet CS. I used a piece of MDF for the extension and bought the mounting plate from Rocklers.

Hi Rick - I haven't tried this RT but it's pretty similar to others sold through wwing retailers. It's from Hartville Tool...all their router accessories are on sale through January for 15% off. It's $145 with the fence...$85 for just the table.

Rick, about halfway down this thread are a few pics of how I answered the same question with my TS3650:

I'd make it wider (deeper) if I were doing it again. I plan to replace it with a Rockler-made top I got a while back, but I'm waiting for a few other parts to fall in place first.

I found this on special. I also planned on cutting this table and adding it to my TS but the more I read the more I think it my be worth it to find a spot for a dedicated router station.

This is 70% off. It's phenolic and comes with router insert and ringe but no fence. It's about 33-1/2" x 23-1/2". Some say it is difficult to cut phenolic - it's hard and chips easily.

Vaughn I like that idea for an extension. I think that will be an upcoming project.

I have a shaper so not sure if I'll drop a router in or not but I've been kicking around ideas to make an extension. Actually I probably will there are lots of times I would like to have a second bit set up. Besides you cant have to many tools. ;)

You can make it yourself. This is my old one before I purchased my Unisaw. This was from ShopNotes #50
