Some of the maple and mahogany sections didn't line up perfectly so I used a wood burning tool to outline the segments and hide the misalignments. Probably not an original idea but to me it added some definition as well.

The glass eye is about 3.5" dia.

thanks John, my daughter (50) thinks so too. btw, hope the back thing works out. I tried the needling thing and it helped some.
