Cutting slot for double demountable hinges

I was wondering how to cut the slots for double demountable hinges on both the cabinet door and face frame. I am going to be replacing my kitchen cabinet doors and am wanting to reuse the existing hinges.

There are router bits specifically designed for that task. They are slot cutters, with the slot width exactly right for the hinge. The one I have has a 3/8" shaft, so I had to run down an adapter, but those too are available.
