Sometimes its nice to do a project that can be finished in a weekend. This is from FWW sept/oct 1997. I needed something to hold some of my WW books and mags so this seemed to fit the bill. It is made from walnut and has BLO oil on it and I will seal coat with shelac then top coat with varnish (waterlox) next weekend to let the BLO cure. Started it Sat morning and completed it Sun afternoon. My next project ( 2 end tables) won't be as quick. Thanks for looking, Rick

Rick,

Very Nice, I remember that piece from FWW, I remember when I first saw it, I said to myself that is a piece that I would like to make someday...
It's still on my list.

nice job !

Nice bookshelf unit Rick. What joinery did you use?

Rick,

What a great bookshelf. I like the design and the way it incorporates some nice features. You did a nice job.

I love it, and you made it look easy, the wood is gorgeous. How did you attach the shelves?

I like it!

Would you, or someone post the measurments so I could build one? Just some basic length, width, height etc..

Thanks.

Thanks. It is 27" high, 30" long with the 2 sides being 12" at base and 8" at top. In FWW it was 36" long but I wanted alittle shorter. rick

Very nice, Rick. I like the tapered aspect of this design. And your intended use is great, too!! :)

Very nice Rick! I've just printed it out to add to my "have to build that sometime" file.

Hope mine turns out half as good as yours;).

Now you did it. I'm thinking and brain strain will no doubt follow. I recently built a CD cabinet. The kind with the long pull out drawers that you still have to fan thru the CD's to find what your looking for. After looking at your book case it came to me and my limited ability to think outside the box that a shelf such as your top one that would fold out may be a better. Well it's a thought. I think I hurt myself.
