I ran into a friend I had not seen in many years and he asked if I wanted this old box of end cuts he has had setting in his basement for a long time. He was given these a long time ago and he didn't know what kind of wood they were. I have shown a few pieces around and no one knows for sure what they are. I thought the brain rust....er brain trust here might be able to help.486786486787486786
Anyone know what the dark wood is? Thanks

Actually works pretty easy. I was thinking mahogany at first too but others have told me it's not mahogany. I haven't worked with any exotics so, I'm in the dark. This stuff has been setting around for 40-50 years and I thought maybe mahogany before the bans on that from South America but, ?

Denny -- The darker wood in the lid appears to be red palm. I cannot tell what the lighter wood might be. Some kind of maple?

The lighter wood is maple for sure. The darker is the big question mark. Red Palm, I'll check that out. Thanks.

It looks like Apitong (which includes 70 different species)

Is one of those species red palm? Images of red palm sure look like what I have. Real pretty wood and easy to work. Wish I had larger pieces.
