I was at my BF's 50th Wedding Anniversary Big celebration dinner Saturday night. He was one of the lead Scientists on that project. I saw gold pins with of a small replica of the mirror, with all the segments-really nice.

I hadn't seen John Mather since before the launch, so I asked him some questions. I asked if he got nervous when it looked like the heat shield wasn't unfolding. He said he wasn't worried a bit because a lot of times something wouldn't work to start with. I asked him if he was worried at any stage, and he said he really wasn't. He said it was the best tested thing they've sent up, and they weren't rushed by the managers this time.

They're all Very proud of it.
