A Grizzly G 1021 15 inch planer has come up for auction. How good is this model and are parts still available? What would be a good final price for one in descent shape? The auction house is adding on a buyer's premium of 15% plus over 7% sales tax which would add over 22% to the winning bid.

For me, used equipment in good shape - 75% off new is an ok deal, 50% is a great deal.

So a new G 1021 with straight knives is about $2,800 delivered to your door - used range would be $1,400-$2,100.

Less 22% for the auction and sales tax is $1,150-$1,725 final bid (final price you want to pay / 1.22).

Hopefully that helps.

They are ok. You could get them for 1300 new a couple years ago.

I wouldn't pay more than 500 for one, but location plays a big part.

I own an almost identical Grizzly planner, its about 25 years old now. I paid $850.00 for it new.
It's been a real workhorse machine and still works today as well as it did when it was new.
For ten years I operated a EBAC drying kiln and planned over 400 BF of hardwood every month on top of my regular woodworking activity so my planer has seen a lot of use.
