I need to build a vertical plywood storage unit. I want it permanently mounted against a wall. I'd like it to hold a few sheets plus smaller pieces.

I found Terry Hatfield's thread about the one he built a couple years ago but the photos don't show on his post. I also can't open his web site.

I would appreciate any other ideas and pictures.

Thanks, Rick

I built the one pictured in this thread (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=15493&highlight=sheet+goods+storage). I store up to 1/2 sheets in there and built a separate rolling bin for < 1/2 sheet cutoffs. The bin is basically a big box on wheels that rolls out when I need access and easily pushes back against the wall.

Now first I realize that you asked for a vertical plywood storage unit and this one is a horizontal rack but I thought you might glean some information from it anyway.

I thought about making this one a bit taller and trying the vertical storage but my shop trusses are at just over 8' and I really didn't have the room to store plywood vertically and still be able to roll the cart around.

The casters on this one are 6" fixed on one end and swivel on the other.

Here is mine. Have it attached with hinges and high capacity casters so I can swing it out.

A year ago, I built a plywood storage rack based on Terry's design. I described mine (with photos) in the thread: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=15471

Frank,

How wide are the openings and out of what material did you build it?

The size of the largest opening is 7 inches by 99+ inches. The others are 8 inches by 50 inches, 8 inches by 25 inches, and 8 inches by 17 inches. All the pepths are 48 inches.

The vertical material is 12 milimetre contstruction grade plywood. The horizontal material is construction quality 3/4 inch pine.
