Those are some great looking mini's there Bill. I really like the burls. Are they hollowed inside or just drilled out? What tools are you using? Has anyone tried using dental tools? I was thinking about asking my dentist if he had some old tools he was getting rid of.

Those are some of the best looking dimes I have seen to date, Bill. I don't know how you do it. Really must take a lot of practice and patience.

Hi All,

Thanks for stopping by. The minis are great fun to turn, however do require your utmost attention, very sharp tools and a gentle touch.

John, the third from the left is Redwood burl.

Bobby, all of the forms are 100% Hollow Forms. You can find some extensive information through past pages on minis, including all types of tools and such.

John, Ernie, the outlet for the little ones is beyond what I had expected. I have sold all I can turn and if really get into it, can sell even more. Will be approaching 100 next week. Prices for good quality work and what buyers are looking for go from avg. $10.00 to $35.-40.00 and some as high as $60.-70.00. There are also, not so good days. A glass blower had a piece on the auction block this past week, the bid went as high as $276.00 and it did not meet the reserve, it was only 1/2" tall, quite nice however.

I can turn 4 from a pen blank and have piles of scraps, I knew I was saving all of that junk wood for something. Gerri has since given up asking, why do you save all of those little pieces. :D

..... however do require your utmost attention, very sharp tools and a genital touch.
