The lower guide cover looks good, nice use of those magnets
Do you not use the lower port anymore?

Correct. I haven't used the bottom port for many years. I get about a teaspoon of spoil down there every 6 months or so.

Much more elegant than my cardboard box😎

Now, if only I could find someone who knows how to make things…………..Regards, Rod

Thanks Rod. Yo made my morning. I used a cardboard conglomeration on an old 10" saw for years. Never did get around to formalizing it as the cardboard worked just fine. :D

I have a piece of cardboard on on of my chop saws that directs the dust toward the port. I had a little panic one day when I thought I lost it. Where would I ever get another one?

Glen-
Are you using a G0514? What kind of magnets are you using? I'm going to do this.

This is on a G0513X2. The magnets are 1" by ~ 1/8" rare earth.

Glenn, you have motivated me to add it to the "to do".

Glad I could provide some amusement.....Rod.

I've made similar dust collecting systems for various tools. I use rare earth magnets with a countersunk hole in them. That way you can use a screw to hold them in place. Also 4" exhaust pipe (which you can get from NAPA auto parts) is the perfect size for 4" hose. The hose slides right over it snugly. I have a short section of pipe with a rare earth magnet on it that I stick to cast iron tables on tools like my spindle sander and bandsaw out of my way but close enough to catch dust.

I did the same thing, after going through lower guide bearings so quickly. Pulling dust away before it hits the lower guides makes them last longer.
