Greetings,
Yes, I'm running way behind on getting this posted!!!!
Sorry, but life, work and family have consumed a LOT of my days recently and that's all I can say.

Still working a bit in the shop as I get time and have energy left at the end of the day to do shop work. The day job seems to take a lot of my time and I'm hoping that it will be better in time.

That's it for me, so what did YOU do this past week?

This past week has been a mish-mash of landscaping and getting started on a quick laundry room remodel. We ordered new appliances which will arrive next week and given that money, it was worth putting a few more dollars into making the room more pleasant and functional. I'm relocating the vent, drain and water supply because we're going "stacked", panted the walls this weekend and am about to put down a new vinyl floor. The reason for the latter is that the engineered wood that the previous owner installed over tile in that space was done really poorly in pretty much every way. Costco also had Mohawk flooring on sale for $35 an 18 sq ft box so I took advantage. I'll complete this over the next day or so and then...TIME TO BREAK GROUND for the new shop building. My permit is approved and I just have to pick it up (and pay for it) when it physically reaches the Borough office from the engineering firm that does the building/zoning work for the jurisdiction. "Oh happy day!"

Meanwhile...(ode to Colbert)...Professor Dr SWMBO was exposed to "that virus" at a faculty meeting last week and has a positive test, so we're back to masks for a few days. No symptoms and ironically, we both just had our fourth booster. (No discussion on this please per forum rules)

Diann completed the glass work and I completed the wood work on the garden lamps.

They now need a coat of oil and installation, each has two 2W 2700K LED 12 volt lamps…..Rod

Nothing in the shop for myself this week, but our son needs a big, sturdy table for the ultra fast, larger (48" square) 3D printer he is building. So we've been working on a modified workbench each morning. Afternoons I've been plugging away on the deck build and yard care. That's it for me.

Dennis, busy can be good and I'm glad to hear you got some shop time to decompress.

Thanks Lisa, the lamps will be powered by the 12 volt lighting transformer for the backyard lights.

It also powers a rectifier to run the wifi controlled BBQ lights……Regards, Rod

I was hanging DC duct last week. Realized yesterday that I made a mistake and not have to rearrange two branches. Moral of the story, check your design document.

Our new range actually showed up as scheduled and it even works. Still waiting for a couple of accessories but nothing critical.

I got the last of the old flooring removed from the hallway to the garage, so it's ready for underlayment. Also have to do some patching on the walls and paint before installing the flooring and trim.

From Sat. until today Mary and I were in Chicago. Mary was attending a midwifery conference and I was goofing off, mostly. She did have a few gaps in the conference so we were able to visit the aquarium and the Navy pier, and spent one evening with her nephew and his family who live in Chicago. I visited the museum of Science and Industry on my own, and also made a stop and a few minor purchases at one of the Chi-town Rockler stores. In the NE Ohio area we now only have a mini-rockler store that's part of Cleveland Tool and Cutter, so it was fun to visit a "real" Rockler store. The full size store we used to have closed down quite a few years ago. I also spent some time researching bathroom design and products as redoing the master bath and bedroom will be the next major remodeling project here at the house. All in all it was an enjoyable short get away. Not cheap though! Self parking at the hotel was $65 per day. One day I had lunch at 5-guys. A cheeseburger, small fry and small drink came to $21 and change.

It's taken a few months, but I now pretty much have a good feel for the induction setup and am very impressed with its responsiveness. In many respects, the Café range is much more refined than the $10K Thermador gas range I had at the old house...which I adored.
