Wood for Bookmarks

Hi, this is my first post so please excuse any screwups. Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am coming at this from a different angle than most people I have seen on this Forum. In Sept. 1992 I started a company doing Laser Cutting of Metal with a 1500 watt co2 laser. In 1997 I added a 2600 watt laser that would cut 3/4 Steel, 1/4 alum. & 3/8 Stainless. In March of this year I will be installing a 5000 watt machine That will cut 1" steel 1/2 alum. & Stainless. To make a long story short (too late) I am setting up a different company for my wife to use an epolog 35w for engraving & cutting non metals.

My question is I am having a had time finding wood for bookmarks 1/16 seems to thick 1/64 to thin Does anyone sell 1/32 wood.

I spent most of yesterday reading past posts and the info from this Forum is great. You seem to be willing to share info freely that great. If I can answer any question about high power cutting feel free to email me.

My question is I am having a had time finding wood for bookmarks 1/16 seems to thick 1/64 to thin Does anyone sell 1/32 wood.Every hobby store I've ever been in has thin birch plywood, 1/64", 1/32", 1/16", etc, typically in 12"x24" sheets...look over by the balsa wood. My local arts/crafts store (Michael's, which may be a chain) also carries it, priced a bit higher (about $7-8 a sheet).

The 1/32" lasers very well: the inner layer is darker than the surface layer, gives great contrast. But since it's ply, the 1/64" is stronger than you'd expect for that thickness...I haven't tried it yet, but see no reason why it wouldn't engrave/cut just as well as the 1/32", just have to be careful not to blow right through it while engraving.

I ordered 1/32" x 12' x 12" Finland Birch plywood from www.sloanswoodshop.com for 2.35 per sheet. Ordered on 1/2/06 and received on 1/4/06. Beautiful stuff and I cut some book marks from it this week. They are quite sturdy.
